soul cravings (6)

We're supposed to be the highest and most advanced species in the ecosystem, but we're ruining it all.

This brought me back to a scene in Imagine Christmas. Prior to the scene I will explain there had been creation and then the fall. God created the Earth and all that is in it, then Adam and Eve meet, Eve eats the apple and sin is created.

Alvin and Harold come back onto the stage where there is a ton of debris-- God's creation has been ruined. He created the Earth, day and night, all of the animals, and that closest to His heart-- people.

"They ruined everything." That is the theme throughout this scene that Alvin and Harold (who in this performance were angels) repeat. God gave so much to us and we ruined it. Yet still, He yearns for relationship with us.

The part from Soul Cravings above comes after talking about how we are polluting the water, air, etc. Here we are again, ruining what God has created. First we ruined what would have been perfect relationship with Him and each other and now we are polluting the beautiful Earth that he created and still yearns for us to be in relationship with each other on.

Taking care of this Earth is not just something that we should tune into and be aware of every so often. We are not working to keep this place clean for our sake. It is God's ground. It is His Earth. (or eerth as pronounced in Imagine Christmas- haha). But seriously-- this goes back to the fact that all that we do as followers is for Him and His glory. If we want His will to be done on Earth as it is in Heaven, we ought to take care of the very ground we walk on.

I just finished watching the movie Wall E and read this, what a coincidence! I totally agree though and a quote comes to mind (big suprise, but not really ;]):

"Man did not weave the web of life, we are merely a strand in it. Whatever we do to the web we do to ourselves."
